This week on the Lambcast, we change it up a bit with some conversation about books rather than movies. Don’t despair however, the books we are talking about are indeed about the movies, so there will be plenty that you will want to hear about.
First up is a return visit from author Eric Friedman, a movie fan who has used the movies to tell his life story. Eric was a guest on the Lambcast two years ago when the second of his trilogy of books was released. You can hear that below.
This week, we have a conversation about the third and final book in his series “It’s Strictly Personal”.
“It’s Forever Strictly Personal” covers Eric’s moviegoing life post college into adulthood and a profession. Readers will be able to identify with Eric’s experiences, even if they have different lives, because the movies help him interpret those experiences.
The second part of the show brings a conversation with one of our own Lambs, who has written a book under the auspices of Turner Classic Movies. Kristen Lopez has been a frequent guest on the Lambcast over the years. Now employed as an editor at “The Wrap”, she is a long time classic movie fan who has taken her love of film to the next level.
“But Have You Read the Book” covers enough movies to fill a whole year if you watch along on a weekly basis. Kristen writes about the books that inspired some of the greatest movies of all time. Some adaptions are very literal, and others took only inspiration from their sources in coming up with the cinematic version. From Frankenstein to Dune, with stops along the way for Wuthering Heights, Dr. No and other classics, Kristen shares a little of what went into making a book into a film.
If you love movies, you should enjoy the conversation that both of these authors share with us.
