In October, everyone’s thoughts turn to mayhem as the horror movie season peaks with with Halloween on October 31. We had our MOTM a couple of weeks ago, but that did not satisfy our need for blood. Like culture vampires, the Lambcast goes in search of horror films in all the bad places.

The rules were simple, everyone had to bring five films to the discussion, one in each of five sub-genres of horror. Nicole Ayers goes traditional, The Vern is never traditional, Lisa Leaheey finds some nuggets and Dave Anderson warms the hearts of Carpenter fans.

Slasher-(e.g. Halloween, Friday the 13th, Psycho)
Supernatural-(e.g. Poltergeist, The Exorcist, The Haunting)
Creature Features-(e.g. The Birds, Piranha, Them!)
Comedy Horror-(e.g. Shaun of the Dead, The Frighteners, Happy Death Day)
Monsters-(e.g. Dracula, Alien, Werewolves)

No one took any of the suggested titles, and a couple of guests struggled with at least one sub-genre that they dislike. We ended up with twenty-five recommendations to finish off your Halloween with, but also carry you over through the rest of this year’s holidays. Do you like scary movies? If you do, you will like our lists.

Maybe one of your favorites is here, but our bet is that most of the films we talked about will be new to you and something you might enjoy exploring. We also talked about some places where you should not go exploring, and we are not just talking about spelunking. Even our most jaded of horror aficionados had reservations about some horror based films. Come listen and find out what you should seek, and what you should seek to avoid.
