June is reserved for a Movie of the Month that comes from a female director. A Woman’s perspective is welcome any month but we don’t want it to get neglected by the capricious nature of voting so all entries for this Episode were directed by women and Karyn Kusama’s 2009 teen girl horror comedy topped the returns. It was a film expected to do better, widely criticized on it’s release, and having developed a much better...
It’s time to vote for the next Movie of the Month! As usual the winning film will have a Lambcast episode dedicated to it, so without further ado here are your options:
The Last of Sheila (1973) [Sean Homrig, Sh*t We Watched on Netflix]
It’s time to announce June’s female-directed special Movie of the Month winner! Of course films directed by women can be championed any month of the year, but to guarantee at least one is in the conversation at some point every twelve months, we limit the films to only those directed by women for every June. Amongst this month’s options we had three very different horror or horror-adjacent films championed, and in fact they...
It was with some trepidation that this podcast was set up. Kotaanisqatsi is an experimental film that uses visual images and an original Phillip Glass score to create what might be called a 90 minute visual poem. The absense of actores, script, dialogue, plot etc. suggested that this film might be difficult to process much less watch.
Come and be surprised at how much this week’s Lambcast crew was able to chew...
It’s time to vote for the next Movie of the Month! Once again June is our female-directed special, and we’ve got five films for you to pick between. As usual the winning film will have a Lambcast episode dedicated to it, so without further ado here are your options:
Ravenous (1999) [Mark...
It’s time to announce May’s Movie of the Month! We get a lot of different types of films submitted for the Movie of the Month poll, but May’s winner is definitely the first of its kind to win. What its kind is though, I’m not quite sure, even though I’ve seen it before. This month, the film that received the most votes and which will have a Lambcast episode devoted to it is…...
It’s time to vote for the next Movie of the Month! There are ten submitted movies for you to pick between, all championed by LAMB members. Vote for your favourite, and the winning film will have a Lambcast episode dedicated to it! The poll is at the bottom of the page but first, here are the options:
The Last of Sheila...
It’s time to announce April’s Movie of the Month! As usual, April is a franchise special, and once again we had a very diverse range of franchises submitted, but there can only be on winner. The franchise that received the most votes in the poll, and which will have a Lambcast episode devoted to it is… The Thin Man!
Congratulations go to Howard from Rantings and Ravings and the Pop Art podcast for...
It’s time to vote for the next Movie of the Month! As always April is our franchise special, and we’ve got eight film franchises for you to pick between. The winner of the poll will be discussed on an upcoming Lambcast. The poll is at the bottom of the page but first, here are the options:
The Thin Man...
As we roll through 2021, one thing becomes obvious, the Movie of the Month is going to be a good film. So far we have had three movies, all over 50 years old and if you check out the Lambscores, It’s unlikely you will find a higher rated trio of films.
Speaking of trios, that’s what we have joining Richard this week for the discussion. David Brook, Todd Liebenow join the film’s champion, James...
It’s time to announce March’s Movie of the Month! Once again, persistence has paid off as another serial contender continued to champion one film again and again (and again and again and again) until it finally won, so for next month we’ll be looking at… Once Upon a Time in the West!
Congratulations go to James from Blogging by Cinema-Light for finally succeeding in championing Once Upon a...
February was Richard’s Birthday Month and it has become a tradition here for the hosts of the show to select the choices up for Movie of the Month at that time. There were eight options and the Lamb community chose the one blindspot on Richard’s list. It turns out that it was also new to some of the other guests on the show as well.
The stylish and deliberately paced Le Samourai from Jean-Pierre Melville...
