It seemed inevitable that The Thing would finally become the MOTM, after a couple progressively better showings in the polls (just as it seems inevitable that The Third Man will win one of these months). Good thing, too (no pun intended), as it’s a hell of a film. Interestingly enough, it wasn’t deemed a classic (and wasn’t commercially successful, either) upon its release, where it barely earned its budget back and arrived...
The voters in our last MOTM poll overwhelmingly selected Oldboy as this month’s film, and it’s not hard to see why. Chan-wook Park’s genre-spanning 2003 film shockingly was not an instant classic, but has become more than a cult icon in the eight years since its release, climbing the IMDb Top 250 (it currently sits at #97) and, more importantly, becoming more and more known as one of the quintessential Asian films of the new...
Alright you jive-ass turkeys…it’s time to shut up and listen, ’cause grown ups is talking.
That’s right, it’s time for the Movie of the Month, and with it, the LAMBcast dedicated to said movie. If you haven’t seen the 2009 comedy that kisses the feet of the blaxploitation genre just prior to sweeping those feet from the ground, you’re missing out. Can you dig it? So kick back, have yourself...
The poll results are in – thank you to the 59 voters who have made Black Dynamite the next MOTM. Here’s what needs to go down from here:
* First thing you need to know is that April 16th is the big day.
* You have over a month to watch the flick if you haven’t already, and to write up something and/or send me the link ([email protected]) to something previously written. If you’re planning on...
(Note: see below the player for news about the LAMB Movie of the Month!)
The gang of four is back after a one-week hiatus to bring you a new kind of LAMBcast. Jason, James, Nick and Dylan couldn’t find anything worth discussing in the new release section, so we watched This Is Spinal Tap (for the first time!) and convened to break it down. Smell the Glove, baby!!
Also on tap:
* Listener Feedback
* LAMB of the...
With every September comes a new NFL season, and with it, hordes of people that obsess over it, and probably just as many that wish it would just go away, as it becomes a part of life that’s difficult to evade (if you were trying to). The intersection of movies and sports isn’t one that I find a ton of people crossing, and on top of that, the LAMB is, of course, an international organization while the NFL is undeniably American,...
FYI: I started a dedicated Facebook page for the LAMBcast. I’ll still post something here when a new episode is released, but if you’re looking for a central place for commentary, suggestions, complaints, etc., go here (and LIKE it!).
They say imitation is the most sincere form of flattery. Well, we’ll see about that.
The LAMBcast pays tribute to the LAMMY-nominated...Yes, this post commemorating the results of the last poll is roughly a month old, considering it was about the Oscars. Better late than never, no?
Nothing much to interpret with them, either, as I was gauging interest in the Oscars telecast. With an audience of (mostly, I would assume) film bloggers, a tally of 71% with at least marginal interest and 52% with religious interest seems par for the course.
New poll is up. ...
