With every September comes a new NFL season, and with it, hordes of people that obsess over it, and probably just as many that wish it would just go away, as it becomes a part of life that’s difficult to evade (if you were trying to). The intersection of movies and sports isn’t one that I find a ton of people crossing, and on top of that, the LAMB is, of course, an international organization while the NFL is undeniably American,...
Yes, this post commemorating the results of the last poll is roughly a month old, considering it was about the Oscars. Better late than never, no?
Nothing much to interpret with them, either, as I was gauging interest in the Oscars telecast. With an audience of (mostly, I would assume) film bloggers, a tally of 71% with at least marginal interest and 52% with religious interest seems par for the course.
New poll is up. ...
I was more than pleased with the results of the last poll; more than 90% of the respondents showed at least some interest in our current Devours event; judging by the entries so far, I’d say that the enthusiasm was matched. I hope that all you new LAMBs and/or ones that didn’t get in this time will be all over it next year. In fact, with only 24 categories, we might have to come up with a new format. We shall...
Apparently, the distribution company behind Synecdoche, New York has failed miserable. Nearly half the LAMBs that voted in our last poll were even given the chance to see the film. Either LAMBs instinctively live in super-rural areas (fitting, I ‘spose) or the film never made it into more than 50 theaters at a time. Whatever the case, most who had heard of it, and seen it, loved it. It ought to be an interesting case for the...
A month ago, I asked you to come down on the age limit question for new LAMBs. 62% voted for an age limit of some sort, with 28% saying no and the remainder somewhere in the middle.
So, now that we’ve settled that there will be one, I wanted to have a slight re-vote to determine the proper age. The “Yes” votes previously were spread amongst three different times, and there was a winner, but I’d like to give...
For the almost-year that the LAMB has been around, I’ve tried to be as open as possible to new sites wishing to join. We all know that the definition of a “blog” is hazy to begin with, so that just adds to the confusion, but I’ve tried not to...
It’s been awhile since I put up a new poll. Here’s the results from the last. It looks as though more of you need to be browsing the other LAMBs; as someone who browses lots and lots, I can tell you that there are some damn good ones out there.
The new poll wants to know how much of your life is spent movie blogging? Take your time answering……
...Look at all the Arrested Development lovers! I knew I liked you LAMBs for a good reason.
Now I’m curious – most of you write about movies, but how many do you see in the theater? New poll is up in the sidebar already.
And while we’re speaking about polls, don’t forget to vote for your Top 10 Sports Movies – just one week left!

...What started as a runaway victory for Benjamin Button turned into a three-horse race, with Burn After Reading overtaking Button and sustaining a large post-trailer-viewing surge from Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Quantum of Solace came in a distant 4th, and “Boo Fletch for forgetting a movie” took 5th.
With the new Star Trek film months away, our new poll asks which TV show you’d most like to see...
A couple reminders for you…
If you haven’t yet, place your votes for your Top 10 Comedies, part of our soon-to-be ongoing series of LAMB Top 10 movies by genre, not so subtly titled “Our Acronym Is Better Than Theirs,” referring of course to the AFI and their riot-inciting lists. (Or just vote here; it ends July 8.)
There’s a poll to your left that gives you a chance to tell me how to make the LAMB...
Some good participation from our latest poll, as 50 votes were cast. I’m not terribly surprised by the results, but I am quite glad/surprised to see that 5 sites are getting more than 500 visitors a day. Hey, you five – how about sharing some tips on your success with your LAMB brethren and sisthren?
Mostly, I’m just curious as to who you are. Being the proud LAMB parent, I’m familiar at least somewhat with most...
The results from the last poll are in, though they’re largely inconclusive. The question was “What is your preferred movie news site?” It finished a tie between IMDb and Other, each with 13 votes. Coming in third was Cinematical with 4 votes. 40 votes were cast overall.
The new poll is up, and centers on traffic to your site.
Also, I wanted to give a push to anyone that may be interested in one of our two new...
