This month’s Acting School 101 teacher was Meryl Streep. We received a total of 158 reviews for 37 films that Meryl Streep had parts in. Plus 2 general posts about her life and work. That’s quite an impressive amount. Let’s see what the members of the LAMB community thought of Meryl Streep’s career: General post about Meryl (1) MadLab Top Ten Post (1) Cinema Parrot Disco A.I. (1) MovieRob Adaptation. (4) Film...

We’ve got a mixed bag for you this week. Deadpool 2 peaked it’s head (or a different body part, it’s probably best not to ask) out of the schedule gap between Infinity War and Solo, and was joined by a couple of smaller releases too, one of which is easily the worst reviewed film we’ve seen on here for a long time. It’s almost impressive to obtain a review below 1.0, but Show Dogs has earned that blue ribbon....

The latest Movie of the Month show is here! It’s been dragged through a river of shit and come out clean(ish) the other side. That’s right, this month is all about The Shawshank Redemption. Freshly-impounded co-host Richard Kirkham took the lead, and was joined by the film’s champion, Rob, along with Damien and Howard. And before go ahead and dismiss the show off hand as being a full-on love-in and swoon-fest over the film,...

We’re still in the wake of Infinity War, so again no powerhouse releases this week, just a Melissa-McCarthy-as-Rodney-Dangerfield back to school comedy and a Gabrielle Union in bad-ass mode home invasion thriller, neither of which is lighting up the scoreboard. Here’s what the LAMB community had to say about Life of the Party and Breaking In: Life of the Party LAMB Average: 2.56 (8 sites) Paul’s Trip to the Movies (3.5) The MN...

It’s time to vote for July’s Movie of the Month! The poll is at the bottom of the page, but first, the contenders! As you should already know by now, Meryl Streep is our actor of the month in the newly-revived Acting School 101 feature, being hosted by me, MovieRob. Alongside the monthly blogathon held here on the LAMB site, I will also be hosting a monthly podcast episode devoted to the actor and their roles, and wouldn’t you know it but that’s this very show here! I was joined by Shane Slater from Film Actually and Awards Circuit to discuss all...

It seems most studios took the wise decision to duck and cover from Thanos’ attack and steered clear of opening anything big the week after Infinity War. As such we’ve only got one movie for you this week, the third collaboration between Jason Reitman and Diablo Cody, Tully. Here’s what the LAMB community had to say about it: Tully LAMB Average: 3.50 (7 sites) The Michigan Movie Guy (4.5) Silver Screen Riot (4.5) Kirkham A...

[email protected] Deadline: 30th June 2018 Hello everyone, it’s time to announce the director I’m going to be highlighting for June and this month I thought it would be right to dedicate this month to the memory of one of the most influential directors of the past 50 years, Miloš Forman. Forman’s early life was one of hardship, his parents being arrested by the Nazi’s during the occupation of...

The Marvel Cinematic Universe. Love it or hate it (and by and large, at the LAMB we’re very much in the former category) you can’t argue that it’s massively successful, and the latest addition, Avengers: Infinity War, was easily the most ambitious and grandest in scale yet. So it’s fitting that potentially the biggest movie of all time – and at time of writing, the fourth highest in box office gross – should...

The latest Movie of the Month has been decided upon! We had a bumper crop of thirteen movies to pick from for the latest MOTM poll. That may have been too many, causing the votes to be split amongst several films, or the outcome might not have changed regardless of how many films were submitted. Either way, there’s only one winner, so for the month of June we’ll be talking about… The Shawshank Redemption!...

Welcome Back Students! Rob from MovieRob here! Like The Director’s Chair series being run by Tony, I think that this reignited series is a great way to get a look at what the members of the Lamb community think about the work of some of the most prolific actors/actresses who have been entertaining us all for so many years. I plan to try and focus on an actor or actress every month who has a birthday in that given calendar month. Obviously,...
